Where: Twickenham

Event Organiser: Dileepa Ranawake

Dileepa Ranawake and friends recently organised a snack stall at the Twickenham fair, where among other goodies, he sold ethical tea and scrummy cakes to the public. The fair was a celeb fest(!), with Gail Porter, Jason Bradbury and local MP Vincent Cable all showing up to lend their support. Not one to miss a trick, diamond geezer Dileepa also took along books of raffle tickets to sell on behalf of the charity. Ranawake with his cheeky run-away mouth, had people crowded around his stall gagging to get hold of his tea and tickets, raising over £400 for the Tea Leaf Trust! We would like to give huge thanks to Dileepa and his team of fundraisers who worked so hard on the stall to fundraise and to those who came along to buy tea, tickets and cakes, we love you all! We would also like to say a special thanks to Ruwan Ranawake, who documented the day in pictures (see the events gallery page) and continues to provide huge support to the Tea Leaf Trust.

Guests were treated to traditional Sri Lankan dancing (bharatanatyam) by the children of the West London Tamil School, followed by a 3 course meal, Sri Lankan of course! The fantastic Groove Machine rounded off a brilliant night, getting everyone up and dancing into the small hours. Great big thanks to all of you that attended our Ball. You were all so encouraging, especially on the night and through your generous donations, we managed to raise over £4000! Special thanks to Rachel Hall and her friend Vicky, who enabled us to keep costs down with their 'printing' links and persuaded many organisations to donate top quality raffle prizes for our Winter Ball Grand Prize Draw.

Event: Tennis Weekend, July 2008

Where: Oswestry, Shropshire

Event Organiser: Chris Pare, with help from Luke and Susannah Barker

Chris Pare, all-round diamond geezer organised a weekend of fun, food, and frolics at his parents' idyllic home, the highlight being the mixed-double tennis tournament, complete with separate his and her trophies! Teams where chosen randomly (names where pulled out of a hat) and in between summer showers and drink breaks (not Robinsons, I can assure you!), teams heatedly battled it out for the plastic gold coloured, bee-figure topped trophies. Chris's fantastic helpers, Luke and Susannah Barker ensured smooth running of the event; Susannah's tough but fair umpiring brought the John McEnroe out in some but they soon lightened up when Luke Barker handed them another drink (yes I know it wouldn't be allowed at Wimbledon). Thanks to Chris, Luke and Susannah's hard work, over £1000 was raised for the charity and brilliant weekend was had by all. Thanks guys, we love you!

Eight people, Danielle Cronin, Ellie Davis-O'Hara, Rachel Hall, Geoff Hall, Tim Pare, Yasmene Shah, Charlotte Whelan, and Zoe, and a dog called Dave battled up to the top, dressed in various costumes (apart from Dave). A big thank you goes out Ellie Davis-O'Hara and her dad, for letting us use their beautiful holiday home to crash at. Special thanks to Veronica Hall, who waited nearly eight hours for all of us to complete the climb - you are a star love! We also salute Geoff Hall, a man of over 70 years who was determined to do the climb with us, what a trooper! Thanks to your very generous sponsorship of all of our climbers, you helped us to raise over £4000.

Tim Pare, together with Tom Jarvis, lead guitarist of Reverend and the Makers, Ian Till and Anders Hanasand played the support for Reverend and the Makers. All profits made from the night were donated to the Tea Leaf Trust. Tickets sold out well before the night of the gig and the Halifax crowd were extremely generous, filling our donation buckets with all their loose change. A crazy fun night of head banging, hip shaking, jigging around was had by everyone who came along and we raised over £6500 with ticket sales and donations. A great big thank you to Reverend and the Makers, Tim, Tom, Tilly and Anders that worked so hard so that the crowd could have such a great night.
